Trust is a vital element of every relationship. When trust gets broken, it can lead to anger and frustration. Often, we might think that revenge is the best option to deal with these feelings, but it seldom is. Recently, one man decided to expose his girlfriend for cheating on her birthday in front of all her friends and family, and he shared the entire story on Reddit.
His Story
Reddit user Cuttie_Smile took to the popular subreddit r/AITAH to share the full story. He began by saying, “I (27M) have been with my girlfriend, Sarah (26F), for three years.” He and his girlfriend were doing well and had been discussing the possibility of moving in together and even getting engaged. But suddenly, she changed.
According to Cuttie_Smile, she began coming home late and was often drunk. “[She was] secretive with her phone and making excuses to avoid spending time together,” he said. “For like a week, I tried to study and get to know where all this was coming from, and to make it worse, I started to think I was the [reason] why she [was] behaving like that.”
But he had a gut feeling that something wasn’t right and decided to do some investigating. “One night, while she was drunk asleep, I went through her phone, and I checked her chats with her best friend because that is where all the secrets are.” Cuttie_Smile said he was shocked to discover that she was cheating on him with one of his friends.
“I confronted her about it, and she denied everything, even when I showed her the messages. She said they were just joking around and that I was being paranoid. I didn’t buy it, but I didn’t push further.”
Although he didn’t press the matter, he couldn’t stop thinking about what he’d read on her phone. But when her birthday party came up shortly after, everything came to a head.
The Birthday Party
“So last week was her birthday party. Everyone was invited, including my [friend], lol. I said to myself I could keep hurting and pretending I’m okay. “So after the eating and dancing, it was time to talk,” he said. “I decided to talk last as I wanted to hear how everybody praised our relationship and then prove them wrong.”
“When it was my turn, I talked about trust and loyalty, and then I dropped the bombshell. I let everyone know that she was cheating and even sent the messages to her birthday group so everyone could see.”
According to Cuttie_Smile, the party guests were shocked by his revelation, and his girlfriend ran out crying. “Her family and friends came at me for humiliating her on her precious day. I left shortly after, feeling a mix of anger and relief. Now my phone keeps getting notifications from her friends calling me all sorts of names. But I feel like she deserved it for betraying my trust.”
